Safety Instructions for the Omnidirectional Treadmill ODT 1

General Safety Regulations

Please read the user manual and these safety instructions thoroughly and carefully before the first use. Follow all provided guidelines to avoid accidents and injuries.

The ODT 1 is designed exclusively for indoor use. Place the device on a solid, level, and non-slip surface, and keep the area around it free of obstacles.

Ensure that all cables (power supply, data lines, etc.) are safely routed. No cables should be lying loosely on the floor to avoid tripping hazards.

The device is designed for a variety of use cases and must only be used for its intended purpose. Any improper use is prohibited.

Keep children, pets, and uninvolved persons away from the device during operation. The ODT 1 is not a toy and must not be used by children.

Do not use the treadmill under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or strong medications that may impair your reaction time or coordination.

Do not use the device if you feel unwell or have health concerns. If you experience nausea, dizziness, pain, or other discomfort, stop exercising immediately and seek medical advice if necessary. Improper or excessive training may be harmful to your health.

Wear appropriate sportswear during use. Only use the footwear provided and avoid wearing loose clothing or jewelry that could get caught in moving parts. Long hair should be tied back or otherwise secured to prevent it from being pulled into the device.

Never reach into moving parts while the device is in operation. Do not insert any body parts or foreign objects into openings or near motors, rollers, or other moving components – risk of crushing or injury!

Small parts of the device (e.g., screws or accessories) pose a choking hazard. Keep such parts away from children and do not insert any objects into openings.

If the device is damaged, emits unusual sounds or odors, or is not functioning properly, discontinue use immediately. Disconnect the power supply (if applicable) and have the device inspected by qualified personnel. Using a damaged or malfunctioning device is strictly prohibited.

Authorized Users

The ODT 1 may only be used by individuals aged 18 to 60.

Safe usage is guaranteed only up to a maximum body weight of 120 kg. Do not exceed this limit.

Safe usage is guaranteed only for individuals between 1.60 m and 2.0 m in height. Do not use the device outside this height range.

Individuals outside the specified age range (under 18 or over 60 years) are not permitted to use the device.

Persons with physical or mental impairments that prevent safe use of the treadmill are not allowed to use the device.

If an individual with significant health conditions (e.g., balance disorders, cardiovascular diseases, neurological impairments) is to use the device for therapeutic purposes, this must only be done under the direct supervision of a qualified professional and with prior medical approval.

Preparation and Checks Before Each Use

Put on the safety harness: Before stepping onto the platform, put on the supplied safety harness. Attach the harness to the designated mounting point as described in the manual and ensure that all clasps are securely fastened. The harness must be fastened in a way that prevents accidental release.

Inspect the harness: Before each use, check the harness and buckle for wear, tears, or other damage. Do not use the device if the harness, buckle, or any safety components are damaged. Replace faulty parts immediately using original manufacturer parts.

Check important screws: Before each use, inspect all safety-relevant screws, especially those on the rotating arms of the harness holder, to ensure they are tight and undamaged. Loose screws must be tightened before use; damaged screws must not be reused and should be replaced.

Screw maintenance interval: For preventive safety, the screws on the rotating arms must be replaced with new, equivalent screws every 30 operating hours. Carry out this replacement diligently according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Log operating hours to adhere to the maintenance schedule.

Device condition and surroundings: Make sure the treadmill is properly assembled and all components are correctly set up. Remove any loose objects from the running surface and the surrounding area. Ensure there is sufficient free space around the treadmill so the user can safely dismount or be caught in an emergency.

Safe Mounting and Dismounting

Use the handrails: Always hold the designated side rails or handholds when mounting or dismounting the treadmill. Use these supports to maintain your balance, especially when getting on or off the raised ODT 1 platform.

Use a step aid: Use a stable, non-slip step stool or similar to safely mount and dismount the platform. Position the step aid so that it does not wobble and provides a short, secure step.

Assistant for support: It is strongly recommended that a second person is present to assist the user with mounting and dismounting. This assistant should stand close to the device, support the user if needed, and be ready to catch them in case of a stumble or misstep.

Instructions During Operation

Use the safety harness: The safety harness must remain fastened and secure throughout the entire session. Never loosen or remove the harness while the device is in use.

Supervision by a second person: Ensure that a second person is always present during use to supervise and assist. This person should remain attentive and be ready to intervene – for example, to stabilize the user or prevent a fall.

Maintain a stable posture: Keep an upright and stable posture while walking on the ODT 1. If you lose balance, immediately grab the side handrails and hold on until you feel secure again. The handrails are designed to provide additional support as needed.

Avoid touching moving parts: Do not get close to any moving parts during operation. Do not touch the running surface or reach for the rotating arms or other moving parts. Keep hands, feet, and head within the safe user zone and away from all mechanisms to avoid crushing, entrapment, or shear injuries.

In case of emergency – e.g., if you lose balance or fall – hold onto the side rails immediately and avoid exiting the platform uncontrollably. The assistant should be nearby to stabilize or catch the user if necessary.

Stop if you feel unwell: If you experience symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, sudden pain, or weakness, stop using the device immediately. Ask the assistant for help and leave the platform carefully once the device has come to a stop. Seek medical attention if needed.

After Use and Maintenance

Dismount safely: End your session by bringing the device to a stop, then carefully leave the platform. Hold onto the side rails and use the step aid again to climb down.
It is recommended that a second person assists during dismounting to stabilize the user and catch them in case of imbalance.

The safety harness should remain fastened while dismounting; only unclip it once you are standing safely off the platform.

Power off the device: After use, switch the treadmill off properly. If the device has a safety key, power switch, or plug, remove or turn it off. Secure the ODT 1 against unauthorized or unsupervised use, especially when children or unauthorized individuals might have access.

Check for damage: After each use, inspect the device for any damage or signs of wear. Pay particular attention to all safety-relevant parts (harness, buckles, handrails, mounting points, screws). If you discover damage, material fatigue, or loose parts, discontinue use until the issue is resolved.

Follow maintenance schedule: Perform all manufacturer-specified maintenance tasks on time. In particular, the scheduled replacement of screws after 30 hours of operation must be strictly followed. Record operating time and maintenance actions in a maintenance log to keep track.

Cleaning: Keep the device clean and wipe off sweat, dust, or dirt from the surface and handles after use. Always disconnect the power before performing any cleaning or maintenance. Use only appropriate, mild cleaning agents and avoid liquids near electronic components to prevent short circuits. Ensure that no moisture enters the interior of the device.

Repairs: Do not make unauthorized modifications or repairs to the device. Repairs or part replacements may only be carried out by qualified personnel. Use only original spare parts or components approved by the manufacturer. Improper repairs or the use of incorrect parts may compromise safety and void any warranty or liability claims.
